New Delhi: The Income Tax Department will link Aadhaar card and PAN card by 30 June. The card linking fee will be Rs.1000. As per the Income Tax Act, 1961, PAN will become invalid if it is not linked with Aadhaar by June 30.
The Income Tax Department has informed that a fee of Rs 1000 will be charged for linking both the cards. The fee has to be paid through e-pay tax facility. If the PAN card becomes invalid, the income tax return filed using that card will not be refunded. Refund will be given only after the PAN card is reactivated.
No interest will be earned on the refund amount withheld during this period. TDS and TCS will be charged at a higher rate. A fee of Rs 500 will be charged for not linking the child’s Aadhaar and PAN card.
